Scala InfoChannel Overview
Broadband Broadcast Server Software

Expand your visual communications network nationally or globally.

InfoChannel Broadcast Server 3 allows users to broadcast multimedia content created with InfoChannel Designer 3 via satellite and multicast networks to hundreds or thousands of sites.

It is an expansion to InfoChannel Network Manager 3 that makes content distribution easy for large installations by allowing multiple players to be addressed with a single transmission. It also takes advantage of back-channel networks to retrieve log files and re-send missed data.

ROBUST, FLEXIBLE NETWORKS

  • Transmit cost-effectively to largescale deployments
  • Confirmed delivery of content
  • Email notification of errors
  • Scales from one to several thousand simultaneous targets
  • Supports multiple architectures including Satellite/IP multicast
  • Segments networks according to variables
  • Keeps groups or even individual Players manageable

KEY FEATURES

  • Manage communication within networks of displays
  • Automatically route content to specified Players
  • Allocates unique Player IDs to be organized in groups
  • Target broadcasts to select locations by Player groups
  • Supports Player error-checking
  • Send data via redundant transmissions or back-channel

Utilize Existing Infrastructure or Expand to Satellite

Use your existing LAN/WAN, or extend your multimedia network over a potentially unlimited range by working with a satellite bandwidth provider. An uplink facility called a Network Operation Center (NOC) is pictured below. Scala's InfoChannel Broadcast Server software connects to a NOC and transmits to small VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) satellite dishes located at each remote site.

Communication Management

The Broadcast Server manages communications between the network management system and Broadcast players. It automatically routes content to the specified players via the specified networks.

Player ID and Grouping

Each player has a unique identification and can be organized in groups so broadcasts can be targeted to selected locations.

Error Correction and Back-Channel

The Broadcast Server supports error checking with players, and can send corrected data via redundant transmissions or a back-channel

Multiple Authoring Stations

The Broadcast Server allows multiple authoring stations to submit content for different players, and manages what content goes where.
