"Akaba - New Concept" is a totally new paint, graphics and animation program optimised for video editing, enabling you to work on either individual frames or entire video sequences.
It provides a wide variety of tools and options for retouching, adding graphic elements, masking, image manipulation and object animation.
Akaba has three easy-to-use modes of operation : Retouch, Image Correction and Draw.

RETOUCH MODE - FRAME BASED PAINT & RETOUCHING
"Retouch" mode allows you to select and manually edit video frames. The supplied tools can be used to disguise small dropouts or other unwanted elements. Special copy brushes are provided alongside the standard drawing tools to aid in retouching and rotoscoping work.

IMAGE CORRECTION MODE - FLEXIBLE IMAGE PROCESSING
Image correction mode lets you adjust such things as brightness, contrast and colour. Corrections can be applied to selected regions or to the entire frame, with varying degrees of intensity.

For example, if your video is too dark in the lower part of the picture but the sky is well lit, you can correct the problem easily using the mask functions included in "Akaba New Concept".

DRAW MODE - GRAPHICS & ANIMATION
Draw Mode provides many familiar drawing tools for creating lines, circles, polygons and other shapes, all with user-customisable settings. You can use these tools to add graphics or custom titles. Draw mode also provides animation capabilities, defining movement in a similar fashion to the methods employed by the "PIP-Studio" software product.

Drawing Tools
Drawing mode provides many different types of pencils and brushes that can be customized to suit your needs.
In this example, we cut the fish out of a video image and then defined it as a brush so that we can make a scaled down mirror image of it and insert it again.

Animation
As you may already be familiar with from PIP Studio, you can make objects move along predefined paths as well as along paths that you have defined yourself. You can set the object's size and alpha value for every waypoint and therefore make the object do such things as fade in gently.

Compositing
Draw mode can also be used to paint objects or regions in a key colour (green in the example below). You can then use software such as "Bluebox Effect" to replace the area defined by this colour with a different video scene.
