Smart Edit 4 is the core editing software that comes with your Casablanca Avio, Prestige, Kron or Solitaire. Version 3 is also available as an upgrade for owners of older Casablanca systems.
Smart Edit is a non-linear editing system with a simple-to-learn, fast-to-use, but extremely powerful interface. The software provides all the editing functions you require, as well as advanced titling, transitions and effects. It can be extended with various option packs to add further effects, fonts and functionality.

NEW FEATURES IN VERSION 4
|

|
|
|
With the release of SmartEdit 4 this acclaimed new feature from the top model Solitaire is now available for all Casablanca models. All effects are now automatically rendered in the background whilst you continue work on your project. If effects are added while other effects are already rendered, these will be queued and processed in succession. No more waiting for rendering!

|
|
|
Now the preview mode for single frames not only allows comparison between the original picture and the effect, but also between different scenes with effects (Avio/CLARO require the Pro-Pack for this feature). This is especially useful for multi camera projects when different scenes need to be harmonsied (e.g. for white balance, colour adjustments). In combination with Solitaire, the preview now takes advantage of higher resolution.

Due to the integration of the new codec-software from MainConcept in combination with the existing hardware-codec, SmartEdit 4 significantly speeds up effect rendering (dependent on the respective Casablanca model).

|
|
|
Previously, commentary audio track as well as the effect audio tracks were directly tied to a specific video scene, whereas the remaining audio tracks offered could be arranged in any way. With SmartEdit 4 this fixed setting can now be chosen for every audio track.

Network Integration of Casablanca.
Several Casablanca models (Kron Plus, Prestige, Solitaire) are already equipped with an integrated Ethernet interface as standard. Now you can take advantage of this high-speed, networked connectivity. SmartEdit 4 now offers the ability to connect a Casablanca system to a PC Ethernet network (TCP/IP Protocol). Video/ audio material can then be shared with a transfer rate of up to 100 Mbit/sec with other networked PCs or Casablanca systems (in comparison DV material only uses 25 Mbit/sec). The network integration can be done for a network consisting of a server and several clients, as well as for a single point-to-point connection (single PC with Windows XP Home Edition, single Casablanca). Networking is easy to implement, not requiring specialist knowledge.

A specific part of an audio sample being edited can now be played back in loop-mode to preview the application of audio effects. This function significantly simplifies the adjustment of audio effects.

|
|
The software now offers two audio transition modes: "even/steady" and "lowered". These functions guarantee an optimal volume fade, avoiding subjective volume variations.

|
Five different and directly selectable colours (programmable) are now available. Furthermore colours can be directly sampled from a video scene.

FIREWIRE DATA INTERCHANGE
|
|
|
|
|
|
Many Casablanca systems are equipped as standard with a FireWire port, or can be upgraded to include one. Up to now, the FireWire port was only used for transferring data between a DV-camcorder or deck and your Casablanca system. SmartEdit 4 now allows you to connect to a PC via the FireWire interface. This is especially suitable for lossless real-time data interchange.

SmartEdit 4 allows for adding personal pictures to the ImagePool (e.g. logos, photos, patterns, ...). These pictures can be used inthe same way as standard pictures (e.g. Titler, Caladan, Arabesk, Columbus etc.). The pictures in the pool (even colour pictures) can be freely edited (colorize, contrast, brightness etc.). The ImagePool also offers a real-time preview.

The preview screen is now displayed at full size and resolution (similar to Arabesk). Text boxes can be directly selected, moved and resized. The menu also offers the possibility to add graphics to a title. Highlights, light rays and stars make fantastic effects.

Video projectors are constantly getting better, cheaper and more and more popular. SmartEdit 4 now features improved screen border display to guarantee fantastic picture quality for projection use.

- The window "audio envelope" now shows all audio tracks to improve orientation.
- SmartEdit 4 now offers a "replace" button in the audio mixing menu.
- The "CD audio dialog" remains opened if single tracks are imported from a CD. The menu also offers an "All"-button to read all tracks from a CD.
