Non-DV Casablanca Avios can be now be upgraded with a DV interface* providing digital data transfer both in and out. This enables your Avio to read video stream data directly from a digital camera or recorder, either DV, Digital8 or DVCam. The Avio may convert this data into a MPEG-2 (fully digital) clip or retain the DV format as-is and simply save it to hard disk. After editing, the project can be output back to a IEEE-1394 device.
This results in excellent picture quality as the video no longer have to be converted to an analog signal at any stage.
This option has already been available with the old Casablanca I model, proving to be very popular. Well known broadcasting studios have already used the DV option to broadcast Casablanca projects because of the high quality attainable.
