With this release of Scala InfoChannel 5, Scala aims to continue to exceed your expectations with the highest level of service and state-of-the-art technology.

InfoChannel 5 Release 3.1.3 adds several valuable new capabilities, as well as performance improvements and fixes to various issues. Some highlights include:

  • InfoChannel Designer and InfoChannel Player are now tested and certified under Windows Vista.
  • InfoChannel is now available in Russian.
  • Publishing from InfoChannel Designer now works through a proxy server.

About Release 3.1 / 3.1.3

As Microsoft phases out Windows XP through some distribution channels over time, the major focus of Release 3.1 was Microsoft Windows Vista support for Scala InfoChannel Designer and Player. Any customers using Windows Vista, will be able to run Scala InfoChannel effectively as long as they have installed Windows Vista Business Service Pack 1 or Windows Vista Ultimate Service Pack 1.

In addition to Vista support, Release 3.1 includes support for the Russian language, bringing the total of available translated languages for the InfoChannel platform to nine (English, French, Spanish, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, German, Russian and Korean). Scala also supports on-screen text in over 70 languages providing the ability to deliver digital signage content in the world’s most common languages.

To address corporate IT network configurations, Release 3.1 includes support for publishing content from Designer through a proxy server which allows for Scala content to flow through large corporate networks that control their Internet traffic through a proxy server. The new release also includes support for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express and various optimizations for very large networks.

Customer feedback and industry trends are key components of how Scala focuses our development resources. Scala continues to maintain the highest level of quality possible so our customers achieve even more success from their digital signage deployments,” says Peter Cherna, VP Research and Development for Scala.

New: H.264 Video Support add-on: Scala is pleased to offer support for H.264 video files (MPEG-4 Part 10) as a free update for InfoChannel 5 users under the Scala Advantage program. H.264 offers high visual quality at a smaller file size than MPEG-2 or WMV files.
