SCALA INFOCHANNEL RELEASE 7.4
Scala and TechMedia are pleased to announce InfoChannel 3 Release 7.4.

In their continued effort to provide the latest and best technology, Scala have been working on customer suggestions and ideas, new technology and industry trends, to create an improved InfoChannel version 3 in their first release for 2005. As a matter of commitment, Scala is dedicated to providing the world’s leading software solution for digital signage and television networks.

In earlier releases, Scala have added additional language support, the ability to integrate key functions with third party solutions, additional EX functionality, smoother video playback and optimizations for large networks. To continue their commitment of improvement the following highlights are included in InfoChannel 3 Release 7.4 :
  • Scala System Optimizer tool adjusts various Window system setting on a player for optimal behavior
  • Align and Spread elements in Designer 3
  • Turn on a Backdrop Image for any element, including global crawls
  • Automatic Smart Quotes in Designer 3
  • Improved FTP upload and download performance
  • Resubmit Failed Jobs feature in NetManager
  • Automatic retrieval of billing logs from players back to the central server
  • Language support for Thai TIS-620 fonts
  • Player heartbeats and log uploads now have a random hold-off for optimizing the load-balance on the network
  • TV Tuner EX lets you select the device of you’re choosing, instead of using MMOS.INI settings
  • Support for Passive-Mode FTP
  • Faster NetManager log viewer
  • Expose bandwidth limiters and other Player options in ConfigIC
  • Support for the Python programming language for advanced scripting through Windows Scripting
  • IC3 may be installed with a Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese or Traditional Chinese language user-interface
  • NetManager Enterprise is now supported through the NetManagerConsole (no IIS for single-user use)

Due to licensing issues InfoChannel 3 Release 7.4 will no longer ship with Segoe font. To alleviate the impact of this change, InfoChannel 3 Release 7.4 will ship with new Bitstream Vera fonts.

Since the release of IC3 in February of 2002, Scala has continued to provide significant value in these updates as a part of the “Scala Service Plan” or SSP. Scala and TechMedia are committed to continue to provide a similar level of support and ongoing upgrades during the coming year and beyond.
